Wet week in the Cheviot hills

I worked on a gold Duke of Edinburgh expedition for Solihull college. On our way to Wooler, on the Scottish borders, we stopped at the angel of the north:





The leaders stayed in a cottage in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by real free range chikens:





And then it started raining, and we started to earn our money checking all the participants were alright. On the 2nd day, Grigor and I walked 26km, most of it not on footpath. By the end of the day, our river crossing skills had been properly tested. Here's a google earth picture of our track:



The rain stopped on the last day, so I took the camera on the hills. Here are a few pictures taken on Scald Hill:







The whole area was flowded 2 months earlier. Some bridges like this one were damaged in the flowd 2 months before. The rain we had wasn't as bad, just enough to make wadding through the rivers a real challenge!
